Men and women who have tried strict diets and strenuous exercise for losing weight often find it difficult to firm up and tone stubborn parts of their bodies. It can be hard to target areas of the abdomen and the sides of the mid-section with exercise alone. Below are some of the reasons so many people are turning to non-surgical treatments like SculpSure to get rid of the extra deposits of fat in these areas.
What Is SculpSure?
The treatment and device were designed by the Cynosure aesthetic laser company. Cynosure has manufactured some of the most popular aesthetic laser applications and SculpSure is no exception. The treatment has been cleared by the FDA as a safe way for removing pockets of unwanted fat in specific areas using very high temperatures.
During the treatment the fat cells are heated to disrupt their regular activity. When this change happens, the body’s lymphatic system will flush them out as foreign substances. This reduction of fat can help shape your body and compliment your weight loss efforts. The heat also stimulates collagen production, which is something that other body contouring treatments do not usually do.
SculpSure is not intended as a solution for weight loss. Rather, it’s a way to finally rid yourself of those stubborn fat deposits in areas that don’t normally respond to exercise and diet as well as others. These parts of the body are the abdomen, the lower abdomen, and the love handles or flanks. The applicators rest on top of the skin, however, so they can be placed almost anywhere. Talk to Dr. Paul Jarrod Frank at your consultation to find out where your body can benefit from this treatment.
The SculpSure Treatment
The actual treatment doesn’t take long at all. Most of our patients are through in just a matter of about 25 minutes. You will be directed to relax in a reclined position and the device will be wrapped around your midsection like a belt. The laser power level will be carefully adjusted to suit your needs. It will be hot enough to kill the fat cells without disturbing other forms of tissue in the treated area.
What to Remember
If you think that a SculpSure treatment might be right for you, there are a few points to remember. Some kinds of medications might interfere with the healing process after the treatment is performed. These can include certain kinds of blood thinners and pain-relieving over-the-counter medications such as aspirin or Ibuprofen. It’s best to stay away from these a few days before the treatment for best results. Results are typically seen 6-12 weeks after the last treatment.
