Eyelid surgery is a great "eye-opener" for many patients and should not be confused with the rejuvenation performed with a brow lift (see Brow Lift Surgery section). The youthful, natural looking eye is essential to provide harmony with the rest of the face; it is often the first area requested to be treated. It can be done in conjunction with other face rejuvenating procedures. Dr. Wallach recreates a natural looking youthful eye by removing only necessary fat and skin from the upper and lower lids. He tries to conserve as much of the soft tissue in and around the eye to prevent the "hollowed-eye" look which is a sign of aging. Dr. Wallach will often treat the lower eyelids using an incision on the inside of the lid. The surgical procedure usually takes between 1-2 hours to perform with a recuperation time of about 7-10 days.
