Excess sweating causes both physical and social discomfort. This difficult problem, seen commonly on the underarms, hands, and feet, can now be treated effectively using BOTOX® or Dysport™. Local injection into the area of involvement, safely and reversibly stuns overactive sweat glands for up to 6 months. The chemical that BOTOX® inhibits for wrinkles also is involved in the release of sweat in the body. Virtually free of side effects, the treatment does not have any effect on the body’s ability to regulate temperature or on other sweat glands elsewhere on the body.
